Matthew Flinders is Founding Director of the Sir Bernard Crick Centre at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He is also Chair of the Political Studies Association and a member of the Board of the Academy for Social Sciences. He has written widely on the themes of democratic disengagement, new forms of governance and – most recently – the state and role of the social and political sciences.
